EXPANDO T fixing mechanism for thin fronts wins over the jury

After impressing the jury with its innovative spirit, user benefits and cost-effectiveness, the EXPANDO T universal fixing mechanism for thin fronts has brought another addition to the Blum trophy cabinet – the German Innovation Award 2019. German Innovation Award 2019.

“Thanks to the EXPANDO T fixing mechanism, it is now possible for the first time to attach fittings to the thin fronts of lift systems, doors and pull-outs made from a variety of materials, such as MDF, HDF, HPL and veneered chipboard. Compatible with fronts from just 8 mm thick, the mechanism is well-designed with a clear concept and is installed with just the two screws provided. The EXPANDO T is a major innovation that opens up new furniture design options and helps to save considerable amounts of material,” summarised the jury. In recognition of these outstanding qualities, the Expando T was named the winner of the German Innovation Award 2019 in Gold in the Excellence in Business to Consumer – Kitchen category.

Presented by the German Design Council, the German Innovation Award is in its second year and recognises pioneering innovations that have a sustainable impact and bring added value to the user. A total of 695 entries have been submitted by several big-name firms. Through competitions, exhibitions, conferences, seminars and publications, the Award makes a significant contribution to raising awareness and building dialogue around the themes of design, innovation and brands.

Blum ends financial year with turnover increase of 48.72 million euros
The Blum Group increased turnover by 2.6% in the 2018/2019 financial year. The fittings manufacturer from Vorarlberg, Austria owes its stable development to innovations, ongoing improvements to products and services, an ever-growing market presence and the commitment of its employees.
In comparison to the previous year, manufacturer of fittings, Blum was able to increase its turnover by 2.6% to 1,887.85 million euros, achieving positive results for the 2018-2019 financial year ended 30 June 2019. Blum achieves 48% of its turnover in the EU area and 15% in the USA. The fittings specialist delivers its products to more than 120 countries all over the world and is represented internationally by 31 subsidiaries and/or representative offices and agencies. The third generation has taken the helm of the family-owned company, and Gerhard E. Blum will now focus on the Blum Group Holding. For the newly formed Management Board consisting of Philipp Blum, Martin Blum, Urs Bolter and Gerhard Humpeler and the Corporate Management Group, the key to future success is working together in a close-knit network and consistently building on the strengths and competencies of employees.
