Durability and Resilience of Canadian Wood

Canadian Wood will be focussing on the much-sought-after sustainable wood species being made available in the Indian market at the upcoming 7th edition of DelhiWood, which is slated to take place from March 2 to 5, 2023 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida (Delhi, NCR).

Awareness about timber will soon become a movement in the coming days as India is highly focussed on green growth and sustainable development. It is not just the citizens, but also every sector in the country – right from railways to real estate, has taken up on itself to do its bit to achieve the goal of net-zero emission by 2070. Hence, it is not surprising why the country has taken to Canadian Wood in such a short span as it is high on sustainability quotient as well as durability.
The wood is sourced from British Columbia’s (BC) sustainable and certified forests that are managed and monitored in an environmental-friendly manner and adhere to strict forest laws. It has set the bar high with its adoption of sustainable forest management practices, which includes scientific research to implementation of strict forest laws with public consultation. It also ensures that only less than 0.20% of it is harvested annually and reforested by planting native tree species. In fact, wood products from these sustainable forests have a carbon-locking quality that helps to reduce the impacts of climate change.

There is also a lot of emphasis on forest certification, which is largely based on three systems; these include Sustainable Forest Management Standard (CSA) by Canadian Standards Association, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).
Canadian Wood offers a range of wood species, which are western hemlock, Douglas fir, yellow cedar, western red cedar and spruce-pine-fir (SPF). Each of these woods can be used for a range of applications like structural to furniture, door frames to artefacts. The cedars are also known to be resistant to decay due to the presence of natural organic chemicals called extractives in them.

Canadian Wood will be focussing on all these species and the features that make them the much-sought-after sustainable wood option in India at the upcoming 7th edition of Delhi Wood, which is slated to take place from March 2 to 5, 2023 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida (Delhi, NCR).
An exhibition for furniture production technologies, woodworking machinery, tools, fittings, accessories, raw materials and products, Canadian Wood will also be putting up a stall to showcase its 5 distinct species with various applications.
